Academic internships
An academic internship is a structured, short-term, research-based work experience placement that combines practical, hands-on learning in a professional setting with clear academic goals.
Our students have the opportunity work with leading academics in a variety of fields.
Academic Internships allow students to:
1. Apply Theoretical Knowledge: Use concepts learned in coursework in real-world scenarios.
2. Gain Practical Experience: Acquire skills and industry exposure in a specific field.
3. Enhance Academic Research: Often tied to research objectives or projects relevant to a student’s field of study.
4. Enhance university application statements of purpose and interview requirements.
Our students described the experience as invaluable. The opportunity to work with Imperial College PhDs during a holiday is truly a unique experience, rarely available to high school students.
Students have gained significantly, especially in academic writing and referencing, use of computer programming languages, working as a part of the team and working individually.
Students can undertake an academic internship in almost any university major. Our students have taken part in academic internships ranging from mechanical engineering to computer science as well as business management and even Art/ Portfolio work.
